July 2010: The Protein Data Bank in Europe (PDBe; pdbe.org) has a vacancy for the Project Leader Electron Microscopy position.
PDBe is the founder of the worldwide archive of 3D cryo-EM data, the Electron Microscopy Data Bank (EMDB). Presently, EMDB is developed and maintained by a consortium of three institutes (PDBe, RCSB and NCMI) funded by an NIH grant to Prof. Wah Chiu (NCMI), with additional funding from BBSRC and EMBL. The goal of this project is to unify the deposition of PDB and EMDB data (maps, models).
As a Senior Scientific Officer, the successful candidate will report directly to the Head of PDBe, Prof. G.J. Kleywegt, and will be expected to contribute actively to the writing (and reporting) of grants for EMDB and PDBe to obtain funding for additional staff to work on EM. This is an opportunity for the right person to make an impact on how the scientific community uses EM data and structure information on biomacromolecules.
For a detailed job description, as well as a list of required qualifications and experience, see the ad on the EMBL website.
